Over the last few years, the Tavira area has developed as an excellent centre for golf, a refreshing alternative to the more commercialised area west of Faro. Tavira Garden is ideally placed, with five top quality golf courses close by. Reduced green fees can be arranged for some of these golf courses. There are many other excellent courses within an hour’s drive.
Benamor Golf Course is only 5 km away, and has close links with Tavira Garden. It was designed by Henry Cotton, and was the first golf course to be built east of Faro, in 2000. It is beautifully landscaped with views to the mountains and to the sea.
Quinta da Ria Golf Course, with its wide fairways and views to the sea, is right next to Quinta de Cima Golf Course.

Castro Marim, on the Portuguese, Spanish border, has commanding sea views, and overlooks the River Guadiana estuary. It is hilly, so buggies are recommended.
